Well, I'll Be A Monkey's Uncle... Again

Taking a photo of a photo in a frame is a pain in the tush. Glass glares and the focus is thrown off by the reflection but I wanted this picture in here without having to scan it. Pictured here are my sister and her husband with the twins (Olivia and Connor but I'm sure you've heard me talk about them before... there's even a photo or two up here.) After trying for years to get pregnant, Michelle and Cory did the whole medical route. After a lot of money and attempts, Olivia and Connor were born. They impress me every time I see them.

Recently, Cory has been to the doctor several times over an inner-ear issue that could affect his job if not treated. He is expected to have another surgery next month. With all the flu cases going around, Michelle has been under the weather... at least that's what we thought. It seems that I'm again going to be an uncle. It's rather unexpected for their family but both Connor and Olivia have mentioned wanting a baby. After all the issues that they've been working through, it's good to see something good happen naturally. So now, I'm looking at the picture and thinking of a third child (then again maybe two) in the middle somewhere.

The bad news is that my mother (who's birthday is tomorrow) is visiting Grandma Hennessy in the hospital in Sacramento. After the car accident, it seemed everything was going to be alright. A few nights later she awoke to blood on her sheets. She has a tumor on one of her kidneys. Surgery is expected to take place shortly. Mom has always had a very close bond with Nana (one that most would like to see in mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationships) and I can see why she went there as soon as she could. We have our prayers with her as well as fingers crossed.

Congrats on being an uncle for the soon-to-be-3rd-or-4th time. I've got my fingers crossed for Nana too. And don't forget to tell your mom I said Happy Birthday.

My thoughts are with you and your entire wonderful family, it takes a good man to realize what a precious commodity family is and you certainly have that in bundles.

BEST WISHES AND MY THOUGHTS TO THE ENTIRE NUT'S CLAN.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I pray all goes well with you and your family. I'm originally from California and spent a year in Sacramento--Rio Linda. One of my sisters still lives around there. Hope your mom can have a happy birthday even with the anxiety about Nana.

Martin: All that good news and bad news at the same time.

How exciting, an uncle again! Congrats to Mom/Dad to be... the birth of a child is such a blessing for the whole family!

Happy Birthday to Mom! I'm sure it's the last thing on her mind, but hopefully she'll get to celebrate righteously at some point soon. Nana has lots of people rooting for her, I hope all is well with her very soon.

Keeping my fingers crossed for your Nana here as well.

Congrats to your family on the pregnancy. I also thought I had the flu when I was pregnant. I told my mom, "well either I have a stomach flu or I'm pregnant" then called her after my appointment and said "well, it's not the stomach flu" 8)

Martin, I hope all goes well with Nana, I know what a special person she is to you.
Wow such wonderful and scary news all at the same time. Congrats to your sister and brother-in-law and I hope mom has a happy birthday in spite of everything that is going on.

I want to thank all of you for your well-wishes and congrats. Nana's surgery is tomorrow and all looks good as the bleeding has ceased (may have been caused by a mix of earlier medication and the pills given to her after the accident but at least they found the tumor when otherwise, it would have gone unnoticed.) You are all very good people. B)

Um... Martin? Not to change the subject or anything, but I just tried to comment on your other blog and it said only team members could respond...

What's up with that?

Keep your hands inside the emotional rollercoaster at all times and everything should come out just fine :) My thoughts are with you and your whole family while you deal with everything - good and bad.

RT - That's because the other blog is set up for me to just post responses to 80's Music Central related email. I figure that it might be interesting to be more of a column there. I decided to not have comments there at the time because I'd be afraid that when you get an email like "What ever happened to Duran Duran?" that after giving an answer that someone may put in something like "Hell, they put out several albums since then. What kind of hole did you crawl out of?" But, we'll see. Just trying to see what kind of functionality is going to be necessary for that project. B)
