I'm not a big fan of cake. Never have been. I always opt for ice cream at parties. President Ronald Reagan was such a fan that he declared July to be National Ice Cream Month.
I was reading some stats the other day that reported that 80% of all ice cream manufactured is vanilla. Some good reasons behind that are the use of vanilla in things like shakes, ice cream sandwiches, chocolate and nut covered cones and even used a' la mode.
According to some other stats provided by the International Ice Cream Association: supermarket sales for ice cream were: vanilla (33%), chocolate flavors (19%), nut/caramel flavors (7%), neapolitan (5%), and strawberry (4%). Mexico was the single biggest importer of the treats. In supermarkets, ice cream bars were 25% of the market share of the frozen novelty market.
With a lot of the cravings for chocolate, it is interesting to see that it is that far behind. So, with a reported 90% of all people eating ice cream... what is your favorite?

Growing up somehow I liked coffee ice cream from Baskin Robbins, we had one near the house and went there sometimes on Sundays. When I was pregnant, it was definitely butter pecan. I had the opportunity to have Cold Stone ice cream a few weeks ago - and had the cake batter flavor. It's seriously rich, but very good.
Chocolate chocolate chip. Mmmmmm.
I don't think I have a favorite flavor. I like chocolate ice cream but if I am going to have jimmies or a chocolate shell on it then I prefer vanilla. I also like Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia and Brighams Peppermint Stick. All depends on my mood.
I don't really have a favorite either (ice cream or otherwise.) My poor ol' body can't handle too many sweats, so when I do have something, I like to mix it up. :o)
Mmmmmm...ice cream. My favorite is chocolate chip cookie dough. Any brand, but the bigger the chunks of cookie dough, the better. Also love Blizzards from Dairy Queen - strawberry shortcake or pumpkin pie (usually offered at Thanksgiving).

What about the toppings? Its all about the toppings. Whipped cream and chocolate syrup make any ice cream good, among other things.

I don't have a favorite as with anything. BUT, I love me some chocolate chip cookie dough. I shall celebrate National Ice Cream Month this weekend. Or, tomorrow 'cause now I'm craving it. Damnit, Martin.
Dark Chocolate ice cream is my absolute personal favorite... always had it at our local mom n' pops stand in St. Charles.
My boyfriends favorite is bubblegum... ya know the blue kind with the little balls of bubble gum in it? I guess some people never really grow up... and with ice cream who really needs to!!
I just love ice cream.. Not sure I can limit myself to pick 1 favorite flavor.
Just noticed that I never really answered this, myself. Vanilla. Love the flavor. Prefer regular ice cream sandwiches. I will also fall back on chocolate chip cookie dough.
